SunRiver final update

April 30, 2007

Today we leave SunRiver.  I will take many memories and a few extra pounds back home with me.

I am in a weird mood, and this post will reflect that with utter silliness.  There will be no redeeming qualities to the sentences I compose below.

My dad passed his kidney stone on Sunday…which I suppose means technically he worked on the Sabbath.

He told me that Coke causes kidney stones.  If that is true, than this weekend I manufactured enough stones to interest Tom Shane in a wholesale deal.  He can skip Antwerp and just drop by my place. Now YOU have a friend in the Kidney Stone business.

Last night Allison’s mom Vicki made a scavenger hunt for the three older girls.   Each one teamed up with the dads and we went looking for everything from burnt twigs to live ants.  It was a great time for the kids.

My team came in last.  I was just happy to represent myself and take home the bronze. Winning isn’t everything.

However, I hid the bag of stuff so if we have the same hunt next year, and happen to stay in the same house, or anywhere with in two miles, I will easily win gold. As long as the dead squirrel still marks the spot I buried it.  Whatever it takes.  Hopefully there will be too many daughters for a dad to match up with and I can just be my own team.  Or maybe next year it can be dads against the 4 and 5 year olds.   I wish I had a scavenger hunt course at home so I could practice on my own.  And I hope next year kidney stones makes the list.

SunRiver update 2

April 28, 2007

More update on our SunRiver trip.

*It’s hard to have too much fun when your dad is home passing a kidney stone.

*Running after little sleep, and too much ice cream….hurts.

*Feeling out of shape and unhealthy makes me more grateful for health.  Weird.

*Paying $5.99 for Tillamook Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream…..priceless.

SunRiver

April 27, 2007

Oh how I love SunRiver.

We come here usually 2 or three times a year with Allison’s family.  We got here last night..and we will be staying until Monday.  Every year there are new memories made, and each time we come all the kids are at different stages so the trip feels different.

Here’s a short recap of our trip so far….

*Gas $3.39.  Holy cow.

*Tennis elbow hurts like heck when you actually play tennis with it.  That and a bad knee and I must have been fun to watch.

*There are ants at SunRiver that squirt venom.

*6 diet cokes after not having one for about a month….gives me energy.

*There is always an ultimate fight on TV at SunRiver and I love that.

*I think Macy somehow put about a cup of dirt in her hair. It is now pasted to the bathtub floor.

*I always have bigger plans of exercizing on a trip like this than what actually takes place.  Which is usually….none.

*Kids are loud.  And this house is really loud.

*I love SunRiver.

I wish

April 17, 2007

So now I’m following up "I believe" with a similar random thoughts post called I wish.  Hopefully no one knows cheesy songs that start with "I wish".

*I wish 30 minutes ago I hadn’t pigged out on Cadbury chocolate eggs, graham crackers with almond butter and honey,  chocolate pudding and probably something else I can’t remember now.

*I wish I could somehow hear all of Macy’s funny comments all day and still go to work.  (Tonight when we were watching American Idol, and Blake came on…she said  "I love that guy, I love how he goes (and then she tried to beat box)".  It was priceless.  Then when Sanjaya (sp?) came on she said "No, NO!"

*I wish everything I say I believe, I actually backed up with all my actions.

*I wish I lived in a country where they had not invented junk food.

*I wish I would never let my stress or frustrations cause me to lash out at people I love.

*I wish I knew how to access the peace of Christ at all times.  Or I guess better said I wish I would access it all the time.

*I wish I had more time to spend with my friends.

*I wish I was asleep a half hour ago.

I believe

April 13, 2007

My friend Matt says that he has patented "random musings" when it comes to blogs.  So I’m going to start my own version of random musings called "I believe".

Here’s how it goes…

I believe that I have a long, long way to go in leadership.

I believe that eating right is REALLY hard.

I believe I may have the cutest daughter in the world.

I believe that the Discovery Channel rocks.

I believe that spending time with God is the single greatest activity a leader can do for the church.

I believe I need to spend A LOT more time with God.

I believe that 24 is better than most movies.

I believe that Cold Stone is a wonderful, wonderful enemy to my eating plan.

I believe its wrong to call a church "my church".  I’ve done it.  But a church is not mine or yours, its Gods.

I believe that blogging is a great excuse for skipping cardio.

I believe its time to sign off.
